Three Days from Reykjavik to the Glacier Lagoon

This is a three-day circuit that starts and ends in Reykjavik and takes you along the island's south shore as far as Jökulsárlón, the glacier lagoon. You travel with Click Tours, fully guided in English, with hotel pickup from the capital. The route covers the Golden Circle sights on the way out, then follows the South Coast past its waterfalls and black-sand beaches before reaching the lagoon and Diamond Beach on the final day. At roughly 1,408 USD per person, it sits in the middle of the price range for three-day packages from Reykjavik. The tour is built around covering a lot of ground without changing hotels every night, which suits travellers who want the main sights of southern Iceland in one go rather than piecing together day trips themselves.

What the Price Covers and What Costs Extra

The listed price includes your guide, transport, and food for the three days. Hotel pickup in Reykjavik is also part of the package, so you do not need to make your own way to a meeting point. The operator does not break the price down further, so what you see is the full cost of the tour itself. Once you are on the road, the only official charge that might arise is the parking fee at Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, which is 1,110 ISK per private car. On a guided trip where you travel in the operator's vehicle, that fee does not apply to you. If you want to get out onto the water at the lagoon, the amphibian boat tour costs 7,100 ISK per adult and the zodiac tour costs 16,600 ISK per adult, but neither is part of the base price. Viewing the lagoon itself and walking on Diamond Beach is free. There is no free cancellation on this booking, which is worth knowing before you commit.

No Ratings Yet, and What That Means

This tour has no customer ratings at all. In a category of 43 short-break packages, it ranks 40th, but that ranking is based on the strength of evidence behind each listing, not on how good the tours are. With no reviews behind it, the tour is simply unevidenced rather than poorly regarded. The comparable three-day option from the same category, which also covers the Golden Circle, South Coast, and Jökulsárlón, has 172 ratings at 4.4 out of 5, so that listing gives you a much clearer sense of what past travellers thought. Here, you are booking on the strength of the itinerary and the operator's description alone.

The day, stop by stop

The order follows the usual run of the day. Each stop names what is there and the figures behind it; everything else is in the data sheet.

When the Season Matters for Three Days on the Road

The tour runs year-round, and the time of year changes what you actually see. From June through August, Reykjavik's highs reach 13 to 15 degrees and the lows stay above 7, which means the South Coast roads are at their most reliable and the daylight hours are long enough to make the driving distance to Jökulsárlón feel manageable. In May and September, highs sit around 10 to 11 degrees, and the shoulder season still gives you decent conditions with fewer crowds. From October through April, daytime highs hover between 3 and 8 degrees, and the short daylight hours matter more on a three-day itinerary that covers this much ground. The ice cave part of the tour only operates in winter, so if seeing the glacier from the inside is your reason for booking, the colder months are the only months it is possible. If you are coming in summer, you get the lagoon and the waterfalls but not the ice cave.

Getting Underway and What to Expect at the Stops

The tour begins with hotel pickup in Reykjavik, so your first point of contact is the driver arriving at your accommodation. From there, the itinerary follows the standard route south and east. The stops themselves are mostly open-air sights. At the waterfalls along the South Coast, you walk from the car park to the viewpoints on your own footing, and the ground near the falls stays wet in any season. At Jökulsárlón, you have time at the lagoon edge and on Diamond Beach, where the icebergs wash up on the black sand. The lagoon area has parking and facilities, but the sights themselves are not staffed in the way a museum would be. The guide handles the driving and the timing, so your job is to follow the schedule and dress for being outside in whatever the day brings. The operator does not specify a daily start time or how long you spend at each stop, so expect the pace to be set by the guide and the conditions.

Who This Tour Suits, and Who Should Look Elsewhere

This is a tour for travellers who want the three headline areas of southern Iceland in one booking without arranging a rental car or planning the route themselves. It suits anyone comfortable with a full itinerary and with spending a good part of each day on the road, since the distance from Reykjavik to Jökulsárlón is substantial. It is not the cheapest three-day option in this category; the comparable Golden Circle, South Coast, and Jökulsárlón tour runs about 336 USD less per person and has far more customer feedback behind it. If you are weighing the two, that other tour gives you a similar route for less money and with a track record to check. The Hidden Highlands three-day hiking tour from the same category is a different kind of trip altogether, aimed at walkers who want to trade the coastal sights for the interior. If you want to cover the south coast and the lagoon without worrying about logistics, this tour does that, but the lack of reviews and the no-cancellation policy are the two things to weigh before booking.

Common questions

Is admission included?

The catalogue does not say. Where the route is waterfalls and beaches there is nothing to pay; ask if it includes a paid attraction.

How long does the package really take?

The catalogue gives 3 days. That is the operator's own figure and covers the tour itself, not the time you spend getting to the meeting point.

Is there a guide who works in English?

Yes, the operator lists English as a guiding language. That is the operator's commitment, not a checked property of the person on the day.

Where do I find all the data on this package?

In the data sheet on this page. It carries every field on the tour, on each place it visits and on the climate of the departure city, each with its source, and it downloads as a CSV.

Does this listing's rating mean anything?

There are no ratings for this listing yet, so there is no verdict either.
